My pledge on food banks in Bicester, Kidlington, Woodstock

Updated: Jun 27

Whatever the economic challenges we face, we need to ensure children aren’t going hungry in Bicester, Kidlington and Woodstock and adults can live in dignity.

So many families are in work - sometimes doing multiple jobs- but still can’t afford the basics, like a birthday present for their child. This has to change.

As your Labour MP candidate for the new Bicester and Woodstock constituency, I talked to the Oxford Mail about Labour’s plans to breathe new life into our economy and make it work for everyone. https://www.oxfordmail.co.uk/news/24364700.bicester-local-labour-pledges-end-need-foodbanks/

I’m in awe of the work of local food banks and schemes that stop good food going to waste like the Cherwell Collective and the Bicester Community Fridge.  I’ve been giving to the North Oxfordshire foodbank for several years now and enjoyed volunteering for the Stonesfield Food Group.

I will work towards a situation where food banks are no longer needed. I’m making that pledge publicly.

Thank you to the many residents who have written to me about these issues.
